We suggest registering to vote before Election Day via mail or in person, if possible, to avoid spending more time than necessary at your polling place. However, you can register to vote the same day of the election you are choosing to vote in. NH allows for same day, in-person registration on election day. Here’s what you need to get started:
You will need:
- Your polling place’s location
- Proof of identity and/or age
- Proof of domicile
- Proof of citizenship
- Mask
Step 1: Gather items
You should gather all of the items you need to bring with you so you’re ready to go. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Proof of age and/or identity What can be used for proof?
- Proof of domicile What is a domicile?
- Proof of citizenship What can be used for proof?
You will still be able to register even if you don’t have all of these documents.
Step 2: Find your polling place
If you don’t know where your polling place is, searching is easy!
Step 3: Get out, register, and go vote!
Head on down to your polling place with all of your items. A table will likely be set up to help people register the same day for voting. Bring your items to the election official at this table to register to vote, get your ballot, and cast your vote!
